Stories Don't Write Themselves
"If you've stopped by Heartprint Books recently and wondered why things have seemed a little quiet, we can assure you that quiet is the last thing happening behind the scenes..."
Coming Summer 2026: The Lab Pack Tails
A project that was originally scheduled for last year, but sometimes the best adventures need a little more time, a few more revisions, and two Labradors determined to make the story even better.
If you've stopped by Heartprint Books recently and wondered where we've been, the answer is simple:
We've been creating.
Behind every book cover is a journey that most readers never see. There are early drafts, late-night edits, rewrites, illustrations, brainstorming sessions, video calls, cups of coffee, moments of frustration, and those magical moments when everything finally begins to come together.
The Lab Pack Tails is a perfect example.
What began as a simple idea grew into a much larger adventure. Along the way, the story evolved, the characters became stronger, the illustrations improved, and the vision became clearer. Sometimes the best stories take a little longer than expected because they're still becoming what they were meant to be.
That has been true not only for this project, but for many of the books currently moving through Heartprint Books.
Over the past year, we've been helping authors organize family histories, write memoirs, create children's books, develop leadership resources, record audiobooks, and bring lifelong dreams to life. Every project is unique, but they all begin with the same thing: a story worth sharing.
At the same time, both Pat and I have been working on projects of our own. Pat continues to develop a new book, while I have two personal books currently in the works that I'm excited to share in the coming months.
And somewhere between all the writing, editing, designing, and creating, Calypso and Captain have been faithfully supervising the entire operation. Their contributions primarily involve reminding us to take breaks, get outside, and occasionally throw a tennis ball.
As creators, we often spend so much time building the next thing that we forget to pause and share the journey. This is our reminder to do just that.
So if things have seemed a little quiet from us lately, please know that the silence has been filled with stories, ideas, creativity, and exciting projects that are steadily making their way toward publication.
Thank you for following along, encouraging us, and supporting the authors whose stories we are privileged to help bring into the world.
We have a lot more to share in the months ahead.
Until then, keep creating, keep dreaming, and never underestimate the power of a story.
Because sometimes a single story can leave a heartprint that lasts a lifetime.
